THROWBACK IN TIME

In 1956, the Royal Netherlands Steamship Company (KNSM) opened the first luxurious passenger terminal in the Netherlands. With its maritime grandeur and interior designed by ship architect Johan van Tienhoven, Kompaszaal marked the beginning of a special sea voyage for first-class travelers. Today, Kompaszaal is open to everyone. Where passengers once prepared for their journey to New Orleans, a hotspot for jazz and swing has now emerged in Amsterdam East.
