Kompaszaal (KZ) has a rich cultural history and is known today as the home of Amsterdam’s swing dance scene. In addition to our own jazz and blues programming, we are also happy to provide a stage for various cultural initiatives. Whether you want to organize a classical concert, jazz evening, theater performance, exhibition, or other cultural event, our historic halls on KNSM Island provide the perfect setting for your vision.
Ambiance and a Personal Touch
In addition to our focus on jazz and swing, we warmly welcome other cultural expressions. Our spaces are beloved for classical concerts, lectures, workshops, festivals, and of course dance classes.
The historic interior of the former KNSM passenger terminal, designed by ship architect Johan van Tienhoven, offers a unique ambiance for cultural events. The combination of maritime grandeur, post-war artworks, and a beautiful view over the IJ provides the ideal setting for any event.
Our various halls and spaces can be flexibly arranged, from intimate concert settings to large-scale cultural gatherings. Our team is happy to work with you on the technical and practical aspects of your cultural event.

Special Rate for Cultural Events and Neighborhood Initiatives
To make culture accessible and support cultural initiatives, we offer a special cultural rate for artists, cultural organizations, and non-commercial cultural events. We also wholeheartedly support neighborhood initiatives. Contact us to discuss how we can facilitate your project within your budget.
Our Own Programming: Jazz, Swing & Blues
